We grew up alongside the pharmacies we serve, and we are still growing with them.
Our history on the island of Ireland runs back over a century and across five generations. In that, we closely mirror our customers: today we work with the sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of the pharmacists we first served.
That shared history informs everything we build. When a pharmacy changes hands, changes premises or changes how it works, we tend to have seen it before, often with the same family.
Our interest in pharmacy politics and our appetite for software development have been there from the start. We introduced the first 'computer' into an Irish pharmacy in 1982, and we have never handed development to anyone else since. Every system we have shipped (the Genie, Alchemist in NI, PharmAssist in RoI, the first Windows platform in 2008) came out of our own team.
For the great majority of our customers, we are the only pharmacy IT supplier they have ever trusted to help run their business.
Since 2008 the pace has not let up. Prophet, our DOS-based EPOS, became McLernons Retail. McLernons Head Office followed, putting dispensing and retail for a whole group under one roof. Several times a year we release new versions to keep customers ahead of what is coming.
In 2015 our e-prescribing software was recognised as the national standard for Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions in the Republic. It is built and ready for the day the national programme goes ahead.
We are proud to be a family business, proud that many of our staff have been with us for more than twenty years, and proud of the trust that comes with both.
